The Jeep Patriot is a compact crossover sport utility vehicle from Jeep, a subsidiary of Chrysler. It was debuted at New York Auto Show in April, 2006 and went on sale from the final season of 2006 as 2007 vehicle. The SUV model slots between Jeep Liberty and Compass versions. It is one of the least expensive compact SUVs in the market today.

Both the Jeep Patriot and Compass versions are designed and produced based on the GS platform from Mitsubishi. The Patriot model is differentiated by its styling and it is available as four-door wagon body style. It is expected that the mode will undergo a complete redesign in 2010.

First Generation (2007-2008)

The initial model had cargo room and available off road capability as key features, while the cabin materials and acceleration are considered as main drawbacks. It is offered in two trim versions, Sport and high-level Limited. Both the models have the seating capacity to accommodate up to 5-passengers and come with split folding rear seat and rear liftgate.

Power to the first generation Jeep Patriot model comes from 4-cylinder engine that delivers 172 hp and torque of 150 lb ft. It can be mated to either continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) or to 5-speed manual transmission. The other engine available to the model include a 4-cylinder model that produces 158 hp of power and this comes mated to only CVT transmission.

The compact sport utility vehicle is offered in either all wheel drive or in front wheel drive without low range gearing. The available features in the model include heated front seats, fold down tail gate speakers, leather upholstery, fold flat front passenger seatback and navigation system.

New for 2009 include hard drive that has the capacity to store picture and music files up to 30GB, UConnect multimedia suite, navigation system with real time traffic updates and wireless cell phone link.
